ISD and the Brazilian Navy discuss partnerships in the areas of Health and Education

Representatives of the Brazilian Navy in Rio Grande do Norte visited the Santos Dumont Institute (ISD) units in Macaíba on Thursday, May 26. The Institute's lines of action in healthcare, teaching, research and extension were presented to the military personnel who are part of the corporation's medical staff. The purpose of the visit was to begin the process of discussing partnerships in the areas of Health and Education. 

 

The Captain of the Sea and War and Director of the Natal Naval Hospital, doctor Rita de Cássia Machado Passos; the Corvette Captain Doctor Simone dos Santos Gomes; the Lieutenant Captain Physiotherapist Erick Rhone Borba Lira; the Frigate Captain Dentist Roberto Passos Villar; the Frigate Captain Doctor Fábio Costa Souza and the 1st Lieutenant RM2-T Psychologist Ítalo Alves Sobrinho, were received at the Anita Garibaldi Health Education and Research Center (Anita) by the unit's manager, physiotherapist Lilian Lira Lisboa. 

 

During the institutional presentation, Navy representatives learned about the ISD organizational model, centered on collaborative practice, the biopsychosocial model and family-centered care, as well as part of the care flows and protocols carried out in the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Clinics; Childhood and Adult Spinal Cord Injury; Neurogenic Bladder and Intestine; Parkinson's; Maternal and Child Health; Microcephaly; Neurodevelopment; Drug-resistant Epilepsies and Hearing Health. 

 

The members of the military medical staff also visited the Edmond and Lily Safra International Institute of Neuroscience (IIN-ELS), another ISD unit in Macaíba. In the building, which houses laboratories used by master's students in the Master's Program in Neuroengineering and residents of the Multiprofessional Residency Program in Health Care for People with Disabilities (RESPCD/ISD), they were able to see some of the research and services developed at the ISD, presented by the unit's manager, professor-researcher Edgard Morya.
