ISD participates in the 1st Meeting of Social Organizations of the Federal Executive Branch

Last Tuesday, June 25th, took place in Brasilia the 1st Meeting of Social Organizations of the Federal Executive Branch, promoted by Ministry of Economy. The representatives of the Santos Dumont Institute (ISD), Jovan Gadioli, managing director, Edgard Morya, manager of the Edmond and Lily Safra International Institute of Neurosciences (IIN-ELS); It is lilian lisbon, manager of the Anita Garibaldi Health Education and Research Center (CEPS) participated in the meeting along with leaders of eight other Social Organizations (OS) that operate through a Management Contract with the Federal Government.

According to ISD's Administrative Director, this event represented a milestone in the current Government's interest in strengthening the OS model, as well as the possibility of its expansion as a strategy to increase efficiency in the development of projects and provision of public services, of interest to the State.

The objective of the debate was to promote the exchange of experiences between the OS, to discuss better institutional arrangements to be able to deliver more to society with greater efficiency. During the presentation, Edgard Morya explained about the projects developed by ISD in teaching, research and extension in the areas of Neurosciences, Neuroengineering, Maternal and Child Health and Health of People with Disabilities (PwD).

The exhibition featured details on the multidisciplinary teaching that is prioritized at the Institute, both at IIN-ELS in research on neuroengineering and neurosciences, and at CEPS in assistance to mothers and children and PwD's, areas that are integrated in the work of ISD. The importance of translational research for the Institute was also highlighted: basic research that starts at the bench, but ends with an application in the reality of people's lives.

presidential decree of February 27, 2014 qualified the ISD as Social Organization. This format of partnership between the public and private sectors makes it possible for a non-profit company receive State resources to carry out services of public interest. Currently, ISD develops its activities through a Management Agreement signed with the Ministry of Education (MEC).
