On May 2nd, the “Share this idea” campaign was launched in Macaíba (RN), which aims to encourage reports against the abuse and exploitation of children and adolescents in the municipality. The activity, which took place at the Pax Club, had the massive participation of the community and the Santos Dumont Institute (ISD) was represented by its Director of Education and Research, Reginaldo Freitas Junior. The event received authorities such as the mayor of Macaíba, Fernando Cunha; the municipal secretary of Labor and Social Assistance (SEMTAS), Andrea Carla; the president of the Guardianship Council, Angela Cavalcanti; the president of the Municipal Council for Social Assistance, Marianna Barreto; the representative of the Macaíba Trade Union, Marcio Eudes; and the representative of APAE of Macaíba, Irene Peixoto.
SEMTAS in Macaíba will be promoting a series of actions until the end of May, focusing on preventing and combating sexual violence against children and adolescents, encouraging the population to recognize and report cases involving this type of rights violation. The planned activities will be carried out on the streets, in squares, in schools and also in agencies such as CRAS, CREAS and the Guardianship Council.
CEPS Anita Garibaldi offers support services for victims of violence

In 2016, the Anita Garibaldi Health Education and Research Center (CEPS) implemented, in partnership with the Public Health Department of the State of Rio Grande do Norte, the Reference Service for Care for Children, Adolescents and Women Victims of Sexual Violence. The emphasis of this project is on harm reduction and the use of procedures and resources (prophylaxis) to prevent and avoid sexually transmitted infections after sexual exposure for victims of sexual violence in the Macaíba Microregion.
Within its scope of maternal and child health care, CEPS created this service to ensure comprehensive care for victims of sexual violence, assisting in the care and appropriate referrals within the health network. It also seeks to maintain a process of ongoing education in the area of prevention and care for women who suffer sexual violence, aimed at professionals who make up the health care, education, social assistance and public safety network in the municipality of Macaíba.
