ISD promotes 20th National Science and Technology Week with awards for students from RN

ISD was one of the institutions that participated in the activities of the 20th National Science and Technology Week, which at the Institute took place in the format of a Science Fair and Scientific Exhibitions held on October 16, 20 and 26, 2023. 

During the program, students from the metropolitan region of Rio Grande do Norte, from public and private schools in cities such as Macaíba, Natal and Parnamirim, had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of Neuroengineering together with our researchers, students and professionals. 

In addition to learning more about basic scientific processes and possible directions in research, students shared their own productions with event participants.

The program included poster presentations and scientific projects, with awards for the best projects. The award-winning initiatives included a project on technology to assist in the treatment of motor disabilities; the RobôAmparo project, a robotic aid for children with disabilities; a smart trash can and an obstacle identification vest.

A cultural event was also held during the event, which consisted of a theater performance about the history of Nísia Floresta, by the Paulo Nobre State School in Macaíba. Also within the scope of student participation, students from the Jundiaí Agricultural School, also in Macaíba, held a robotics workshop based on the Mandacaru Bot extension project.

About the event

Science and Technology Week, promoted annually by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), with support from the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), has as its theme in 2023 “Basic Sciences for Sustainable Development”. The ISD participates in the event annually, fostering and strengthening science, and encouraging young people aspiring to a future in scientific research.
