ISD extends measures against the coronavirus

Posted in April 23, 2020

The Santos Dumont Institute (ISD) extended until May 5th measures to prevent the new coronavirus which it has adopted since March and would be in force in the Organization until this Thursday, the 23rd.

The measures include a special on-call or home office work scheme for teams, online-only classes and group activities for clinics, and face-to-face consultations only in the areas of high-risk obstetrics and pediatrics.

Victims of sexual violence in Macaíba – the Institute's headquarters city – also continue to receive care on site, at Anita.

The measures had already been extended once, on April 8.

Quarantine
The decision for the new deadline, announced by the Special Commission for the Covid-19 Pandemic created by ISD to monitor and evaluate the scenario, is in line with the state government decree that also extended the quarantine period until the 5th.

The objective, according to the Commission, is to avoid crowds and the flow of people to reduce the risks of infection and spread of the virus.

The justification is also based on guidelines from the Ministry of Health and international evidence that isolation is the most effective prevention measure in this context.

As the pandemic situation evolves, however, new definitions may be adopted and published at any time.

Prevention
The special work schedule at the Institute includes a home office for administrative and academic functions, and a shift schedule for operational activities.

The activities continue online for the master's degree in neuroengineering and the Multiprofessional Residency in Health Care for People with Disabilities.

For the population, 24-hour telephone lines for maternal and child care – pediatric and obstetrics – as well as support via WhatsApp for these and other patients at the Anita Garibaldi Health Education and Research Center were activated.

Patients at rehabilitation clinics continue to receive support by phone, WhatsApp, and through materials such as videos, folders and booklets that Anita's teams are producing.
The patient service lines are for answering questions, renewing medication, prescribing medication and providing psychological support.

ISD is a Social Organization financed by the Ministry of Education.
