The Santos Dumont Institute (ISD) promoted, last Friday (31), a solemn ceremony to celebrate the completion of the 5th class of the Multiprofessional Residency in Health Care for People with Disabilities (RESPCD). The event took place in the auditorium of the Edmond and Lily Safra International Institute of Neuroscience (IIN-ELS), in Macaíba, and was attended by ISD preceptors and collaborators, as well as family members of the graduates.
Four residents, who joined the program in 2022, participated in the ceremony. They chose a boat as the symbol of the class, as a way of representing the journey through the multidisciplinary residence. “A journey that included surprises, new challenges and learning”, recalled social worker Jéssica Oliveira.
Over the two years of their stay in the program, residents had the opportunity to develop interdisciplinary skills and knowledge that are fundamental for qualified and humanized work with people with disabilities. These skills were developed through research, teaching and extension actions.
“ISD recognizes that each of the graduating residents has professional skills to take care of the health of people with disabilities, in order to collaborate with a more inclusive society, through work attentive to the principles and guidelines of the Unified Health System (SUS) and the premises and values of the care model centered on people with disabilities and their families”, stated RESPCD coordinator, Lorenna Santiago.
The conclusion ceremony featured several tributes to the graduates and professionals who participated in different stages of training at the residency. Among the celebrated professionals, the residents chose general services assistant Sileide Honorato to name the group.
The individual efforts of the residents were also remembered, but also the teamwork and interdisciplinary collaboration with the ISD team and the users served in the different lines of care.
In total, eight residents completed the Multidisciplinary Residency in Health Care for People with Disabilities in 2024. The following participants participated in the ceremony: Clara Andrade (speech therapist), Jéssica Oliveira (social worker), Larissa Pessoa (psychologist) and Marília Paiva (physiotherapist) .
