Registration is now open for the seminar “Paralympic Education – Natal and Macaíba Reference Centers”, organized by the Brazilian Paralympic Committee (CPB). The event will take place on September 26 and 27 at the Santos Dumont Institute (ISD), in Macaíba, and at the central campus of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), in Natal.
Registration is free and can be done by Paralympic Education website until September 24th. Places are limited to 60 people. To participate in the seminar, it is a prerequisite to have completed the online course “Paralympic Movement: Basic Fundamentals of Sport”, also available on the Paralympic Education page.
The official opening of the event will take place at 8 am on September 26th, at the Department of Physical Education at UFRN. The first day of the seminar will include lectures on the achievements of Rio Grande do Norte in the Paralympic movement and public policies to encourage parasports, as well as a theoretical class presenting concepts and pedagogical methods for initiating parataekwondo.
On the 27th, the program continues at the Edmond and Lily Safra International Institute of Neuroscience (IIN-ELS), an ISD unit in Macaíba. The program begins at 9 am with a lecture by the researcher and manager of IIN-ELS, Edgard Morya, on the theme “Research Possibilities (Neuroscience x Parasports) and the impact on the work developed at the Reference Center”. Afterwards, there will be a practical class with a visit to laboratories and workshop. In the afternoon, a scientific exhibition will be held with the presentation of works in the area of parasports.
The seminar has a workload of 16 hours. Professionals from any area or those interested in parasports can participate in the seminar program upon prior registration.

The ISD promotes parasports activities for users of the ISD Specialized Rehabilitation Center (CER ISD) care lines at the ISD/Macaíba Paralympic Reference Center. Currently, bocce and paraathletics are offered to adults and children aged 7 and over free of charge.
After scheduling an appointment, interested individuals will undergo a remote screening followed by a comprehensive assessment, when the eligibility criteria for the courses offered by the Institute are verified.
