Everyone needs to know the work of the Institute”, highlighted the new mayor and added: “You can count on my support from now on and from the new management from January”.
The statements were given during a visit to the Institute's facilities, in which the current deputy mayor of Macaíba, Auri Simplício, and Kleber Rodrigues also participated. “What I saw and heard is a mirror for the whole world. ISD operates in Macaíba since 2008 with the Center for Health Education and Research Anita Garibaldi, a unit dedicated to the training of health professionals through comprehensive and humanized assistance to the population by the Unified Health System (SUS) and qualified since 2016 by the Ministry of Health as a Specialized Center in physical, auditory and intellectual rehabilitation.
As of 2018, the Institute also transferred to the area known as Campus do Cérebro, in the municipality, its advanced research center – the Edmond and Lily Safra International Institute of Neuroscience (IIN-ELS), and its administrative headquarters.
The visit to the facilities was conducted by the physician and general director Reginaldo Freitas Júnior. He presented details of teaching, research and extension activities, as well as assistance to the population that benefits children and adults from more than 120 municipalities in the state.
“The city hall has always been an important ally of the actions we develop in the territory and the signal that there is a possibility of strengthening this partnership, as well as adding new support in the parliamentary area, is very important for our work”, highlighted Freitas Júnior.
“We are committed to health, education, science and projects such as the Augusto Severo Scientific and Technological Park, Pax, which can bring important development to the state”.
The managing director of ISD, Jovan Gadioli dos Santos, the manager of Anita, Lilian Lira Lisboa, and the manager of IIN-ELS and research coordinator of the Institute, Edgard Morya, also participated in the meeting.
