On October 19, 2018, closing the program of activities in celebration of the 10th anniversary of Anita Garibaldi Health Education and Research Center (CEPS), the Municipal Chamber of Macaíba (RN), granted the title of Macaibense Citizen to the General Director of the Santos Dumont Institute (ISD), Reginaldo Freitas Junior (Album with recordings of the moment HERE).
Representatives of the municipality's legislative branch and the Mayor of Macaíba, Fernando Cunha, went to CEPS to hold the ceremony. In his speech, Reginaldo said that it meant a lot to receive the title from a woman and mother from Macaíba, referring to the Councilwoman Rita de Cassia de Oliveira Pereira, author of the proposal.
“It is a great honor to be a citizen of Macaíba. Macaíba is truly inspiring to me. (…) Now it is a done deal: I am from Capoeiras,” he said, referring to the Quilombola Community of Capoeiras, where the ISD develops its Belly Project since 2015. After thanking the team at the Santos Dumont Institute for their shared dreams and his family and friends for their support, the now citizen of Macaíba alluded to the popular song to end his speech: “What we take from this life, my heart, is the love we have to give.”
