On August 18th, neuroscientist Miguel Nicolelis will participate in a book signing for his new book, "Nada Mais Será Como Antes," in Natal. The event will be held at Livraria Leitura in the Midway Mall shopping center in the Tirol neighborhood, starting at 6 p.m.
In his first science fiction publication, the creator and emeritus researcher at the Santos Dumont Institute (ISD) proposes a dystopian future in which the world is on the verge of collapse. Amidst a profound environmental crisis, the existential dilemmas of two scientists, an uncle and niece, are exposed as a silent conspiracy to control the minds and fate of humanity is uncovered.
"Nothing Will Be the Same Again" was originally published in 2024. The work will be adapted for the cinema in 2027 by director Iara Cardoso. The plot explores the concept of networks of interconnected human brains (brainets), an idea proposed by Miguel Nicolelis, and will be the first Brazilian film of hard science fiction – subgenre that combines fictional narrative with a solid scientific basis.
Nicolelis is an international leader in neuroscience and the author of books such as "Muito além do nosso eu" (2011), "Made in Macaíba" (2016), and "O verdade Criador de tudo" (The True Creator of Everything) (2020). The book signing in Natal will be free and open to the public.
