The Santos Dumont Institute (ISD) announces the new cycle of activities of the SIG Re(h)abilitar for 2025, which will have as its theme “Parasports as a rehabilitation tool”. The project, part of the University Telemedicine Network (RUTE), seeks in this edition to foster discussion and knowledge sharing among health professionals – including Physical Education professionals, researchers and students about the impact of parasports on the habilitation and rehabilitation of people with disabilities.
Since 2018, SIG Re(h)abilitar has been promoting debates on different approaches within rehabilitation, always through web conferences accessible to participants from all over Brazil. In 2025, the program will have the support of the General Coordination of Health for Persons with Disabilities of the Ministry of Health, the Secretariat of Parasports of the Ministry of Sports, the Subsecretariat of Sports of Rio Grande do Norte and the Secretariat of Sports and Leisure of Macaíba/RN.
The program includes lectures by the coordinator of CER ISD, Camila Simão; the general coordinator of health for people with disabilities at the Ministry of Health, Arthur Medeiros; the general coordinator of Parasports Programs and Projects at the Ministry of Sports, Vânia Tie Koga Ferreira; and paraathletes, among other guests. “The main objective of the SIG is to promote the exchange of experiences between services and people, with the aim of strengthening parasports as a tool for the rehabilitation of people with disabilities. We will show that, even with limited resources, it is possible to implement this strategy in the context of Specialized Rehabilitation Centers,” explains Camila Simão.
The sessions will be held monthly, always on the first Monday of the month, from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm, starting on April 7, 2025, synchronously. The program will feature experts in the field, para-athletes and public policy managers, promoting discussions on the structuring of para-sports in Brazil, cooperation between Ministries, sports development models for people with disabilities, technological innovations in the sector and reports of successful experiences.
Broadcasts will be carried out by RUTE platform, allowing the participation of interested parties from all over the country. Access is free, requiring only prior registration on the platform.

Parasport at ISD
The ISD offers parasports as part of the rehabilitation process for users served by the Specialized Rehabilitation Center (CER ISD). Children, adults and elderly people with disabilities from any municipality in Rio Grande do Norte can participate in the activities of this care line.
In addition, through a partnership with the Brazilian Paralympic Committee (CPB), the ISD offers bocce and athletics through the ISD/Macaíba Paralympic Reference Center. The goal is to train athletes to compete in official competitions, in addition to encouraging recreational sports practice for people with disabilities.
To participate in parasports activities at ISD, interested individuals should contact the service by calling (84) 4042-0044/4042-0033 or (84) 99155-3027 (WhatsApp) to schedule a screening, which will be carried out by Physical Education professionals linked to the Institute. After the screening, the user will be directed to one of the practices offered by the institution.
