IIN-ELS welcomes the Professor Roberto Sergio Martins, from USP, to present the lecture “Transfers in brachial plexus surgery”. The presentation, held on September 17, 2015, featured current approaches in brachial plexus surgeries. The neurosurgeon and student of the master's degree in Neuroengineering at IIN-ELS, Emerson de Oliveira had the opportunity to discuss some research applications in this area. According to some research, traumatic brachial plexus injuries are the most prevalent peripheral nerve injuries, and generally occur in young people, of economically active age, causing severe disability with partial or total loss of upper limb movement. These injuries are increasingly associated with traffic accidents, especially with motorcycles.
