The atmosphere of celebration, games and lots of joy took over the Edmond and Lily Safra International Institute of Neuroscience (IIN-ELS), in Macaíba, on the morning of this Monday (19). The Santos Dumont Institute (ISD) promoted Children's Day for the children's care lines, bringing together around 60 children accompanied by their families and guardians.

With the goal of providing an experience beyond the rehabilitation environment, the initiative sought to immerse participants in a context of leisure, fun, and social interaction. The program offered unique and memorable experiences for the children, such as a special movie screening held in the IIN-ELS auditorium, as well as a circus performance by the troupe Os Ladrões de Sorrisos (The Smile Thieves).

The morning was filled with recreational activities, including dancing, face painting, tug-of-war, and lots of fun. For the preceptor psychologist Luana Metta, the initiative plays a fundamental role in the development and well-being of the Institute's young users. "Children's Day is a time for leisure, fellowship, and interaction between families and children. Furthermore, it reinforces the importance of play and group activities, which are fundamental for child development," she stated.

The positive impact of the celebration could be seen firsthand and felt by the families. Housewife Irene Suelma is the mother of two children assisted by ISD. It was the first time her children had attended a movie screening. "They paid close attention to the film and really enjoyed the experience," she said.

The feeling of joy was shared by other caregivers. Farmer Josefa Ferreira accompanied her 10-year-old son, José, to the activity. In more than 9 years linked to the Institute's health services, this was the first time they had participated in Children's Day. “An activity like this is very important to break up José's routine. He played with other children, watched the movie, laughed at the circus. It was well worth coming,” she celebrated.

Children's Day was organized by the ISD's multi-professional preceptorship and residency team, with the support of external residents and interns. This activity is part of the Institute's annual calendar of events.
