Registration is now open for the “IV Paralympic Sports Seminar”, promoted by the Brazilian Paralympic Committee (CPB) in partnership with the Santos Dumont Institute (ISD). The event includes theoretical and practical activities focused on adapted sports. Students, health professionals, athletes, and family members are welcome to participate.
Registration is free and can be done by Paralympic Education website Until the 27th. People interested in participating in the Seminar must complete the course "Paralympic Movement: Basic Fundamentals of Sport", also available free of charge on the Paralympic Education website, as a prerequisite for participating in the activity.
This year, the event will be held on October 27th and 28th at the Central Campus of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) in Natal and at the Edmond and Lily Safra International Institute of Neuroscience (IIN-ELS), an ISD unit in Macaíba.
The initiative aims to promote the strengthening of the technical, scientific, and human pillars within Paralympic sport. The two-day event will begin with a lecture led by Tibério Maribondo, a professor, physical education professional, and supervisor of the Paralympic Reference Centers in Natal and Macaíba.
“The Paralympic Sports Seminar is a great training opportunity for students, Physical Education professionals and related fields, with the aim of ensuring greater quality and safety in the activities carried out in schools, clubs, social projects and Specialized Rehabilitation Centers,” says Tibério.
The official opening of the Seminar will take place at 8:30 am on October 27th, at the Department of Physical Education of UFRN. The opening will include a lecture by professor and researcher André Schliemann, a specialist in Inclusive Physical Education, on the possibilities of including people with intellectual disabilities and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in Paralympic sports.
On the second day of the event, the program will continue at IIN-ELS in Macaíba, starting at 8:30 am. After the initial lecture, there will be a theoretical and practical class on table tennis with Professor Jéssica Bispo de Souza.
