To the 'shield masks' produced by researchers and students of the ISD master's degree in neuroengineering are aimed at institutions that care for patients with Covid-19, or patients who may be asymptomatic transmitters of the disease, in Rio Grande do Norte.
The donation is institutional, meaning it is not made directly from the ISD to individuals. Therefore, the director of the interested institution should contact the Institute (via email covid19@isd.org.br).
In the first production batch, equipment was delivered to the municipalities of Natal, Parnamirim and Macaíba.
The list of donation destinations includes the Aluízio Alves Emergency Care Unit (Macaíba/RN), the Alfredo Mesquita Filho Regional Hospital (Macaíba), the Doutor Deoclécio Marques de Lucena Regional Hospital (Parnamirim/RN), Deputy Marcio Marinho Hospital Unit (Parnamairim) and the Dr. Newton Azevedo Municipal Hospital of Natal, in the capital.
Step-by-step guide to requesting a donation
- CALCULATE DEMAND: The technical manager/leader of the interested institution must determine how many face shields are needed for an on-call team. These masks are reusable, meaning they can be used by different professionals—unlike others, such as surgical masks, which are for individual use—as long as they are properly sanitized. This ability to properly sanitize them must be considered when calculating demand.
- GET IN TOUCH: The institution's director sends an email to covid19@isd.org.br, informing the technical manager, the CNPJ (Brazilian Taxpayer Registry), and the total equipment required. This request will be analyzed by an internal committee of the Institute.
- RESPONSE: We will send you a response email with the conclusion of the commission or requesting new information.
