Posted in October 28, 2026

The Santos Dumont Institute (ISD) held, this Wednesday (28), the workshops of the XII Neuroengineering Symposium, in partnership with the VIII International and XXVIII Brazilian Congress of the Brazilian Association of Child Neurology and Psychiatry and Related Professions (Abenepi). The activities took place at the Edmond and Lily Safra International Institute of Neurosciences (IIN-ELS), ISD unit in Macaíba (RN). The Abenepi program continues until October 31, with activities at the Natal Convention Center.

Participation in the workshops was contingent upon prior registration for the event, which was done through the Abenepi Congress website, and covered the topics of functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS), auditory brainstem evoked potential, eye tracking (eye tracking) and electroencephalography (EEG), focusing on neurophysiological systems, assistive technologies, and cortical signal analysis.

On the remaining days of the program, research professors, master's students in Neuroengineering, and multidisciplinary preceptors from ISD will participate in the Abenepi Congress, presenting papers and lectures focused on research and scientific training in the health field, specifically the use of neuromodulation techniques and brain-computer interfaces in rehabilitation.

Furthermore, the Institute's participation in Abenepi 2026 represents an opportunity for networking, knowledge exchange, and closer ties with researchers and professionals from different fields. Contact with new perspectives and experiences contributes to academic development, expands partnership possibilities, and strengthens the construction of scientific collaboration networks.

Encouraging participation in scientific events is part of ISD's commitment to the training of its students and the development of scientific production. By stimulating the sharing of research and interdisciplinary dialogue, the institution contributes to the improvement of the academic skills of master's students and to the dissemination of knowledge produced in the program.

The symposium

Held for over ten years, the ISD Neuroengineering Symposium addresses interdisciplinary themes, emphasizing the integration between science and society and promoting dialogue between different professions and research areas.

The Abenepi Congress brings together health professionals, researchers, professors, managers, educators, students, and residents. In its 2026 edition, the event discussed the impacts of the digital age on childhood and adolescence, as well as the challenges for health, education, and families.

In the congress program, ISD contributes with discussions on the impacts of scientific research and technological innovation on the quality of life, rehabilitation, and neurodevelopment of children.
