Master's students from the Santos Dumont Institute participate in CBEB 2024 in Ribeirão Preto

Posted in September 9, 2024

Master's students from the Postgraduate Program in Neuroengineering at the Santos Dumont Institute (PPGN ISD) participated in the Brazilian Congress of Biomedical Engineering (CBEB 2024), held between September 2 and 6 in Ribeirão Preto/SP. The event, organized by the Brazilian Society of Biomedical Engineering, brought together researchers, professionals and students from all over the country to discuss technological innovations and scientific advances in the field of health.

The discussions focused on the theme: “Integrating Science, Technology and Innovation for Accessible and Sustainable Clinical Practice”. Throughout the congress, ISD students presented projects and research results in neuroengineering, which address studies in the fields of neurorehabilitation, assistive technologies and translational research, reinforcing the multidisciplinary nature of Biomedical Engineering.

The presentations generated enriching debates and strengthened the exchange of experiences with researchers and professionals from Brazil and abroad. “Participating in CBEB was inspiring. I was able to build a new vision about the development of medical technologies in Brazil, in addition to the opportunity to meet several researchers dedicated to the advancement of science,” says Gustavo Maciel, a master’s student who participated in the event.

In addition to presenting their studies, students also had the opportunity to attend lectures by leading names in biomedical engineering, expanding their knowledge about future trends in the field.

The presence of master's students at CBEB 2024 reflects ISD's commitment to training qualified professionals who are engaged with scientific advances and multidisciplinary innovation. “Events like this are essential for our postgraduate students to grow both academically and professionally, in addition to presenting the results of research carried out in the Master's in Neuroengineering”, highlights the manager of the Edmond and Lily Safra International Institute of Neuroscience (IIN-ELS), Edgard Morya.

What is Biomedical Engineering?

Biomedical engineering is an interdisciplinary field that integrates principles of engineering and technology with the biological and health sciences to develop innovative solutions to medical problems. Biomedical engineers work to create medical devices, prosthetics, diagnostic systems, imaging technologies, and therapies that improve the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases, as well as the rehabilitation and monitoring of patients. This branch of engineering plays a crucial role in the advancement of medicine by promoting health and well-being through technological innovations.

About ISD

The Santos Dumont Institute is a social organization linked to the Ministry of Education (MEC), which includes the Edmond and Lily Safra International Institute of Neuroscience and the Anita Garibaldi Center for Education and Research in Health, both located in Macaíba. The mission of the ISD is to promote education for life, forming citizens through integrated teaching, research and extension actions, and to contribute to the more just and humane transformation of the Brazilian social reality.
