The Santos Dumont Institute (ISD), a social organization linked to the Ministry of Education, will hold the first edition of the ISD Paralympic Sports Cup between October 29 and November 1. The competition will include three sports: bocce, athletics (shot put) and parataekwondo, all taking place in Macaíba, in the metropolitan region of Natal.
The official opening of the World Cup will be on October 29th, at 2 pm, in the Auditorium of the Anita Garibaldi Center for Education and Health Research (Anita), one of the ISD units in Macaíba. The competitions begin on the 30th, with the shot put. On the 31st, the parataekwondo matches will take place, and on November 1st, the bocce athletes will compete for the gold medal.
The shot put and parataekwondo events will be held at the ISD/Macaíba Paralympic Reference Center, located in Anita, while the bocce competitions will take place at the Edilson de Albuquerque Gymnasium, in Macaíba. Athletes interested in participating can register using the form available at bit.ly/3NC93W9. In total, 60 places are available for the competitions. Registration is free.
The event highlights ISD's commitment to sport as a tool for inclusion and rehabilitation for people with disabilities, in addition to promoting the growth of parasports in Rio Grande do Norte.
Paralympic Reference Center
The ISD/Macaíba Paralympic Reference Center is accredited by the Brazilian Paralympic Committee (CPB). Currently, boccia and para-athletics are offered to adults and children aged 7 and over, free of charge. Training ranges from beginners to high-performance athletes.
After making an appointment, interested people undergo a remote screening followed by a global assessment, when the eligibility criteria for the modalities offered at the Institute are verified.
