Posted in January 28, 2025

The Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (Capes) released this Tuesday (28) the final result of the students approved in Move La América. The program aims to offer sandwich master's and doctoral scholarships to researchers from Latin American and Caribbean countries, encouraging the internationalization of Brazilian higher education institutions.

In total, 1,423 master's and doctoral students from 16 countries, including Argentina, Colombia, Mexico and Chile, were selected. Rio Grande do Norte will receive 33 researchers, with the participating institutions being the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology (IFRN) and the Santos Dumont Institute (ISD), a social organization linked to the Ministry of Education located in Macaíba.

The ISD, which offers the pioneering Postgraduate Program in Neuroengineering in Brazil, will receive four researchers through the call for proposals. In Macaíba, they will be co-supervised by research professors Maria Carolina Gonzalez, Denis Delisle Rodriguez and Edgard Morya, references in scientific and technological production in the field of neuroscience and neuroengineering.

“We are excited to participate in the program and offer this opportunity to talented students from Latin America and the Caribbean. We believe that diversity of perspectives and the exchange of knowledge without scientific borders are fundamental to the advancement of science and innovation and real contribution to society,” said Professor and Manager of IIN-ELS, Edgard Morya.

The program will grant monthly scholarships for sandwich master's degrees (R$ 2,100), lasting two to three months, and for sandwich doctorate degrees (R$3,100), lasting two to six months. The selected candidate will also receive travel assistance, installation assistance and health insurance.

In addition, Move La América will finance 1,423 research or extension projects coordinated by the professor responsible for co-supervising the scholarship holder in Brazil. Internships, research, extension activities and stricto sensu postgraduate courses will be carried out.

The complete list of approved candidates and the Brazilian higher education institutions that will receive each exchange student is available on the CAPES website. The postgraduate students were selected by Notice No. 7/2024.
