A meeting this Thursday morning (10) between the Santos Dumont Institute (ISD) and Macaíba City Hall marked the return of the facilities that the Institute had ceded to the Municipality to deal with suspected cases of Covid-19.

The return takes place five months after the signing of the term that sealed the partnership and “at a time when cases are falling and the structure of the municipal network is sufficient to meet demand”, said Mayor Fernando Cunha.

“Anita (Anita Garibaldi Health Education and Research Center, from ISD) complemented our service and through this complement we were able to relieve patient care and provide them with better assistance”, he analyzed.

The statements were made during a breakfast that brought together, in addition to Institute directors, representatives from the Municipal Health Department and UPA Aluízio Alves, a unit whose service capacity was reinforced by the ISD structure. The event was promoted by the city hall.

The general director of the Santos Dumont Institute, Reginaldo Freitas Júnior, highlighted that the decision to transfer part of the structure to the Municipality during the pandemic “realizes the social responsibility of the ISD as a Social Organization based in the municipality”.

“The Institute is one of the health service providers in Macaíba, participates in the Municipal Health Council and in the planning of public policies, ongoing health education actions and in the face of a serious problem, a real demand and the need for space for emergency care, it was very natural to understand that this responsibility was also ours”, he said.

Structure

The authorization form for the use of real estate, facilities and equipment signed between the parties on April 8 enabled the municipality to direct part of the population that sought care at UPA Aluízio Alves to the building of the Anita Garibaldi Health Education and Research Center, from ISD.

The structure was adapted to offer 21 infirmary beds and other spaces that are now temporarily managed by the city hall.

The services were provided by doctors, nurses and nursing technicians from the UPA, which works next to Anita.

Services at Anita

With the return of the facilities, Anita is preparing to fully resume offering face-to-face services in clinics from September 15th.

According to the Center manager, Lilian Lisboa, currently 30% of face-to-face care for patients at CER III, Anita's physical, auditory and intellectual rehabilitation center, are active.

“The expectation is that 100% will be available from next week, but as there are users from groups more vulnerable to Covid-19 and others who may choose not to return to the clinics at this time, the operation will continue hybrid, i.e. with services offered remotely and in person for those who wish.”

The structure returned to the Institute will undergo sanitization, a process in which, according to the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa), “the use of products for cleaning and disinfecting surfaces (sanitizers) is an important ally to prevent infections by the new coronavirus ( Covid-19)".

“We are resuming with all care for users, students, residents and our team”, highlighted Lilian.

Anita is a reference in the Unified Health System (SUS) and is open from Monday to Friday (with the exception of national and local holidays), from 8am to 5pm. Appointments and exams can be scheduled by phone: +55 (84) 3271-3612 | (84) 3271-1064.
