The Santos Dumont Institute (ISD) has opened registration for the 2026 edition of the Science Fair and Scientific Exhibitions in Macaíba, in the Greater Natal area. Part of the 23rd National Science and Technology Week (SNCT), this year's event has the theme "Science for Girls" and seeks to encourage scientific research and dissemination among basic education students in Rio Grande do Norte. The program will take place at the headquarters of the Edmond and Lily Safra International Institute of Neuroscience (IIN-ELS), one of the ISD units in the municipality. Activities will be held in the morning and afternoon, divided into two stages. On October 26th, the Science Showcases will take place, with workshops, mini-courses, educational games, and practical experiments conducted by ISD faculty and students. On November 26th and 27th, the Science Fair will be held, focusing on the exhibition of work developed by students from public and private schools in stands and posters.

Who can participate and how to register?

Participation in the Science Fairs is open to students from preschool, elementary, middle, and high school, as well as technical school. For the Science Fair presentations, classes or individual students from elementary, middle, and technical school can register. Both activities are open to public and private schools throughout Rio Grande do Norte.

The projects developed for the Science Fair must address everyday themes or priority areas indicated by the organization, such as health, energy, water, climate, biomes, food, and the economy. Each project must have the guidance of a teacher or tutor. At the end of each day of the Fair, the projects best evaluated by a scientific committee will be awarded trophies and medals.

Registrations must be made exclusively by the management team or teaching staff of the schools (principal, coordinator or teachers), by filling out the official electronic form for the event, available in the call for applications.

The initiative has the support of the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq); the National Fund for Scientific and Technological Development (FNDCT); the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), as part of the Pop Science Program; and the Ministry of Education (MEC), as part of the Full-Time School Program.
